Dear Mr. Crumpton:
During the past six months I have visited with Julio Castano
and Dena Spillman several times concerning the potential results
of a formal policy statement committing the City of Miami to
coordinate its economic development plans and efforts with those
of Dade County; more specifically, with the plans of the Industrial
Development Authority and the Office of Economic Development
Coordination. These agencies of Metropolitan Dade County are
structured for the creation of employment opportunities, at all
levels, throughout the County.
A formal policy statement, an official resolution, or some other
action such as a motion, seconded and duly passed at a proper
meeting of your Mayor and Council, would be most useful and
impressive in discussions with possible new employers. A copy
of the first page from a resolution of North Miami Beach is
enclosed and is a suggested sample of what we have in mind.
Could you please advise me when such action could be taken, or has
been taken, and forward me a copy of the record? Also, I would
certainly appreciate your comments as to how Dade County agencies
might better work with your community on economic development
projects.
Cord'ally,
