Proposed ordinance recommending
rate changes for Municipal
Auditorium and Dinner Key
L. +ennings ''rector Recreation Center/Exhibition Hal_
Stadi s and M inas Depart -Merit
Attached is a proposed amendatory ordinance increasing rates for
the use of Municipal Auditorium and Dinner Key Recreation Center/
Exhibition Hall.
We surveyed twelve auditoriums and exhibition halls of comparable
size and usage in the industry nationwide. Our rates compare
favorably with those of similar facilities. Our suggested rates
will be competitive on a local level.
Sections 39-6 and 39-7 of the code of the City of Miami, Florida,
as amended, relating to the charges for use of Dinner Key Recreation
Center/Exhibition Hall have been reviewed by this department.
It has been determined that the fees and procedures established in
1971 are no longer realistic. In the case of Dinner Key Recreation
Center/Exhibition Hall, the fees were reduced by City Commission
action in March 1975 due to the fact the building had deteriorated
to the point that it had become difficult to rent. Since the
renovation project is expected to be completed by 1978 it is
necessary that we set a schedule of fees at this time.
The Department of Stadiums and Marinas recommends the adoption of a
section of the ordinance, repealing section 39-6 and 39-7 of the
code in its entirety, and enacting a new section 39-6, establishing
new rental rates and procedures.
