C!ICLOSURCS: It excavating areas identified on the construction documents for this contract, it was found that there was an extensive area filled with construction rubble from some earlier period of time. It has never been previously identified in any other records or drawings available. It is estimated that the quantity of this additional rubble is 2400 cubic yards. The contractor has informed us that, per unit prices, the cost for removal of this rubble will be $10.00 a cubic yard. We have discussed this problem with the contractor and, subject to the approval of the Commission, have negotiated a lump sum price of $20,000. JJC/mm
