AND ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE 1978-79 FISCAL YEAR ` R ! i Y POLICE DEPARTMENT BUDGET. pore ,l,,,k-ki-r FLLLQ WHEREAS, there exists between the City of Miami and ackenhut Electronic Systems Corporation a contract dated une,25, 1976 for the furnishing of systematic maintenance and emergency services for the security systems for the City Miami Police Department; and WHEREAS, the City has agreed as a part of said contract it will not resell the software system or updated changes, improvements or enhancements thereto, or any part thereof, and will hold in confidence the design, specifications and associated documentations of computer operation software system, and that therefore the Wackenhut Corporation is the only source for these services; and WHEREAS, the Police Department is pleased with the effec- tiveness of the systems and wishes to maintain this high level of "DOCUMENT , INDEX VV, t security; and ITEM NO.__y_. Mullins Purchasing Agent DATE: IUSJECt: REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: October 23, 1978 FILE: Recommendation for Resolution and Award of Bid Copy of Amended Agreement, Award of Bid. and Resolution The Purchasing Division received a bid from the Wackenhut Electronic Systems Corporation to extend their contract for furnishing systematic maintenance and emergency service for the existing integrated protection system at the Police Station and related facilities, at a cost of $6,900.00 for one year. Wackenhut Electronic Systems Corporation owns proprietary interest in the software which they installed as a part of their initial maintenance and service agreement. The City of Miami agreed to hold in confidence the design specifications and the associated documentation of the system. A copy of the agreement amendment is attached. Funds for this purchase are available in the 1978-79 Fiscal Year Budget Fund of the Police Department. It is recommended that the award be made and a resolution be prepared accepting the bid as received from Wackenhut Electronic Systems Corporation for furnishing said maintenance and service at a total cost of $6,900.00. The Department of Police concurs with this recommendation. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Wackenhut Electronic Systems Corporation owns proprietary interest in the software which they installed as a part of their initial maintenance and service agreement.
