Grassie City Manager FROM: Robett' C. - man Assistant to the City Manager D1tE. tUEiJECT: November 1, 1978 iILE: Coconut Grove Art Festival iltPERENCEe: ENCLOtURE5: One of the oldest and one of the best attended festivals in the City of Miami is the Coconut Grove Art Festival. This festival has been held for years in the middle of February. This festival is, in my opinion, an example of the best kind of cooperation between government and private parties interested in promoting such events for the benefit and betterment of the community. Because the City Commission has established a more stringent policy regarding City participation in festivals, all of those activities which require funding are spelled out in the attached Resolution regarding the Coconut Grove Art Festival. I feel that this approach should serve as a good example of the proper partnership between the City and private sponsors of festivals. It also shows that a properly run festival can be done with a minimum financial burden to the City. EMIE • NEMER MEW MEW MIK IIMB 111 Mitt
