BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF.
MIAMI, FLORIDA;
Section 1, The City Manager is hereby authorized
to enter into an agreement with FAUSTO GOMEZ, for his profes
sionalservices as Assistant to the Mayor, for
the period from January 1, 1979 through December 31, 1979,
subject to the terms and conditions contained in the contract,
attached hereto and made a part hereof, with $16,000 hereby
allocated from Code 2001 "Office of the Mayor" from currently
budgeted funds.

IN CONSIDERATION of the mutual covenants and agreements
hereinafter set forth, the parties hereto covenant and agree as
follows:
I. TERM
The term of this Agreement for the services
of the ASSISTANT
TO THE MAYOR shall be for a period of one (1) year commencing
-January 1, 1.979, and terminating on December 31, 1979, subject
to the right of either party hereto to cancel this contract upon
giving thirty (30) days prior written notice..
II COMPENSATION
A. The ASSISTANT TO THE MAYOR shall receive compensation

for his services at the rate of $15,000• per year, payable in equal
biweekly installments. Said amount shall constitute full compen-
sation to be paid the ASSISTANT TO THE MAYOR for the professional
services and work product stated herein; however, it is agreed
that deductions for Social Security Membership will be matched by
the CITY; and it is further agreed that the CITY will deduct
applicable Federal Withholding Taxes.
In the event either party cancels this Agreement, the
compensation shall be paid only to the effective date of cancella-

sick leave not to exceed a total of thirty (30) days during the
period of this Agreement.
• The ASSISTANT TO THE MAYOR shall be entitled to two (2)
weeks vacation
from the duties prescribed in this Agreement and
shall he paid according to the regular biweekly payment of cocn�
pensation during such vacation period,

ment of the objective as herein set forth; and (2) he shall devote
his entire time and attention to such duties, and shall not engage
in any other business, profession, or commercial activity,
III PERFORMANCE
The ASSISTANT TO THE MAYOR'S professional services and
work product shall consist of the following:
A. Receive on behalf of the Mayor inquiries or complaints
from private citizens;
B. Prepare at the request of the Mayor, letters, memoranda,
or other documents as may be required by the Mayor. If the Mayor
desires, these may be prepared for the Mayor's signature. In the
event the. Mayor requests the ASSISTANT TO THE MAYOR to affix his,.
signature to any letter or document, the ASSISTANT TO THE MAYOR
will indicate that he has affixed the Mayor's signature by placing
his initials beside the signature of the Mayor that he has affixed
the letter or document•,
C, Represent the -Mayor at public meetings only when requested
to do so by the Mayor, In such case, when the ASSISTANT TO THE
MAYOR is representating the Mayor at any public meeting, he shall
make no representation of anY kind whatsoever which could be eon-
sidered by any person or other official at the public meeting to
obligate the CITY in any fashion;
