WHEREAS, the Community Services Administration through
Metropotitan bade. County has granted the award of $115, 380 to the City
of Miami for a "Recreation Support Program' for the period Stine 1, 1978
through September 30, 1978; and
WHEREAS, authorization by Title III of the. Comprehensive
Training Employment Act of 1973 is now insufficient as to its intent; and
WHEREAS, this program has provided an expanded and improved
delivery of recreational activities within the parks of the City of Miami
by employing some eighty-one (81) Recreation Aides which provided
service to economically disadvantaged youth living within the City of Miami.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The action of the City Manager in accepting a grant
award from the Community Services Administration for a Recreation Support
Program is hereby ratified and confirmed.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
necessary amendatory contract to complete the program.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 14th day of December 1978.

Enclosed for your review and forwarding to the Law
Department is a resolution for the acceptance of a grant
award from the Community Services Administration for
a Recreation Support Program and execution of an
amendatory contract for its completion.
This program has enabled the City to hire some eighty-
one (81) employees to expand and improve recreational'
activities for the economically disadvantaged youth of.
the City of Miami.
Authorization of this program was thought to be covered
by the Title III program of the Comprehensive Training
Employment Act of 1973. This has subsequently been
amended and is no longer sufficient to authorize acceptance
of this grant and the enclosed resolution complies to the
necessary legal requirements of the Community Services
Act of 1974.
