Resolution and Metro
Letter
In September, 197.83 the County Manager office wrote to you
regarding proposed street lighting for West 67th Avenue within the
City limits. This Street Lighting Project is to be built Under
the Dade County Decade of Progress Bond Program. They also stated
that a Resolution endorsing the project is necessary to insure
continuing municipal involvement in the planning process and to
demonstrate the municipality's consistent support of the project.
This letter was forwarded to us for investigation and reply.
West 67th Avenue is classified by Dade. County as a Major -Intermediate
roadway and most of the frontage along its length in the city is
residential. The County plans only to do the street lighting now,
and will not, in the foreseeable future, rebuild the roadway. The
lighting is to be installed on the east side of 67th Avenue as a
one-sided lighting system. This one-sided lighting was necessitated
because of an existing wood pole overhead power line on the west side
of the roadway,
The County will install 400-watt High Pressure Sodium Vapor luminaires
on 40 ft. aluminum poles with an average 285 foot distance between
Tights. Underground wiring will be used. The average footcandle
reading is calculated to be 1.47 footcandles for the paved area, and
this falls within acceptable lighting standards for this type roadway.
Attached is a Resolution for your placement on the City Commission
Agenda for December 14, 1978. This Resolution states the City's
acceptance of this proposed lighting installation.
THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS RECOMMENDS ADOPTION OF THE ATTACHED
RESOLUTION.
