Attached please find a Resolution and an Agreement between the
City of Miami and bade County, for Commission approval, setting
down, in official terms, the items we've coordinated with the
U. S. Department of Commerce, re our funding proposal.
As you recall we approached the U. S. Department of Commerce some
time ago about a planning grant to assist us conduct a Comprehensive
Economic Development Plan for the City. Such conversations arose
shortly after the visit to Miami in May of some 15 Department of
Commerce representatives.
As a result of our talks, the Federal agency gave us an unofficial
affirmative response to our request. The amount of $75,000 was set.
Nevertheless, it was their feeling that technically they would funnel
those funds through Dade County, particularly the Office of Economic
Development Coordination. There being no problems with that, from
our part or from the County, we put together the attached document.
delineating our specific responsibilities under this set up.
Once our Commission approves the Agreement, and it passes Dade County's
similar review, it will serve as part of our official application to
the Department of Commerce to receive final approval to our proposal.
