Gary, Director Management and Budget December 1, 1078 Polite and Fire Departmentt Sworn Pertonnel Salary increases Ordinance In accordance with Resolution 78-683 and 78-684 adopted by the City Commission on November 9, 1978, the attached ordinance will implement the salary increases of 5.6% for sworn employees of the City of Miami Police and Fire Departments. The cost for classified and unclassified Police Officers is $769,422. This cost includes adjustments to salaries as well as overtime, shift differentials and holiday pay. It should be noted that this cost does not include an estimated increase to pension of $269,238. This liability, although incurred in fiscal year 1978-79, will have to be appropriated and paid in fiscal year 1979-80. The cost for classified and unclassified Fire Officers is $711,262. This cost also includes adjustments to salaries, overtime, holiday pay and driver engineering allowance. This cost is exclusive of the estimated increase to pension of $247,039. Again, this cost will be offset by the appropriation for pension in fiscal year 1979-80. The combined cost for granting Police Officers and Fire Officers a 5.5% salary increase is $1,470,684. With the addition of pension, the cost would have been $1,986,961. Therefore, a liability of $516,277 will be incurred in fiscal year 1978-79 and paid in fiscal year 1979-80. Funds to provide these increases without pension will come from the estimated fiscal year 1977-78 Modified Fund Balance of $1,445,177; fiscal year 1976-77 Street Lighting Fund Balance of $22,782; and fiscal year 1976-77 Publicity and Tourism Fund Balance of $2,725. ab pro! 114iilii e* i ltlteu Ai stow Clot tram Woes?, Stifteltt Rita Li Ri Udall iRPl MIAMI, 'bon 1 6tiI y, f61'I111.
