HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-08904ORDINANCE NO. aSr , 4 AN ORDINANCE_AMENDING SECTION I OF ORDINANCE NO, 87t5, ADOPTED OCTOBER 26, 1977, THE SUM- MARY GRANT APPROPRIATIONS ORDINANCE, AS AMENDED, DY RSTAtLISt-tING FIVE NEV TRUST AND AGENCY FUNDS VOR CHTA TITLES I, 1I-6, Itt, VI- PSIi, AND VI -STIMULUS PROJECTS AND APPROPRI- ATING FUNDS POR THE OPERATION OP SAID IN THE AMOUNT OF $18,989,991; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION Atm A SEVE ADILITY CLAUSE, WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No, 8719 on October 26, 1977, establishing resources and appropriations for grant funds anticipated by the City of Miami, Plorida and for corresponding City cash match requirements; and WEREAS, Resolution No. 77-748, adopted September 23, 1977, authorized the City Manager to enter into any contracts or agreements which will increase the amount of funds available to the City of Miami and/or extend the funding period for comprehen- sive manpower services such as; recruitment, testing and placement under Title'I of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act; and, WHEREAS, Resolution No. 77-328, adopted April 14, 1977, authorized the City Manager to enter into any contracts or agree- ments which will increase the amount of funds available to the City of Miami and/or extend the funding period for a Public Service Employment Program under Title II-D of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act ; and WHEREAS, Resolution No, 77-585, adopted July 14, 1977, authorized the City Manager to enter into any contracts or agree- ments which will increasethe amount of funds available to the City of Miami and/or extend the funding period for .a temporary Public Service Jobs Program under Title TI=a of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act; and MHERMS, the tity tomtiSaidn, by Resolution No, 17433 adopted Match 164 1077, authorized the City Manager to enter inn any contract or agreements which will increase the aMoUnt of fUnd6 available to the City of Miami and/or extend the funding period _ for coMprehensive manpower services such as; rectuitment, testing, and placement under Title VI of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act; and WHEREAS, the aforementioned resolUtiots further authorized the City Manager to execute any additional contract(s) and/or agreeMent(s) necessary to implement and/ot carry out com- prehensive manpower services as authorized by the Manpower Planning Council of Dade and Monroe Counties with their respective Titles' available funds; and WHEREAS, it is necessary for the anticipated resources which are to be used for the grant programs to be appropriated for use as specified in the applicable contracts and/or agreements as well as for the temporary Public Service Jobs Program on an interim basis to permit expenditures immediately upon allocation of the funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 8719, adopted 1/ October 1, 1977, as amended, is hereby further amended as follows: — "Section 1. Gary, Director Management and Budget ..1 January 8, 1979 Proposed Legislation for January 18, 1979 Commission Agenda The CETA Consortium, as an agent of the Federal Department of Labor, has granted the City of Miami $13,989,991 for the operation of a Comprehensive Employment and Training Program for fiscal year 1978-79. These funds will be used to hire and train unemployed citizens in various City departments and private non-profit institutions. A•summary of these allocations by title and agency is included in the attached ordinance.
