HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-79-0232RFC/S/1 3/12/79 RESOLUTION NO. 7 - 2 3 2 A RESOLUTION WAIVING THE FORMAL BID PROCEDURES AND ACCEPTING THE PROPOSAL OF INTERNATIONAL MEDICATION SYSTEMS FOR FURNISHING PRE- PACKAGED MEDICATIONS AS REQUIRED FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE AT AN ESTIMATED 'TOTAL COST OF $8,000.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM 1978-79 OPERATING BUDGET OF THE DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE; PURCHASING AGENT CO ISSUE THE PURCHASE ORDER FOR THESE MATERIALS. WHEREAS, individually prepackaged medications in emergency syringes are required in the Fire Rescue Service; and WHEREAS, International Medication Systems is the only known source for these supplies produced in individual soft plastic packaging; and WHEREAS, other sources supply in hulk packaging, which requires resealing thereby jeopardizing the sterility; and WHEREAS, these materials will be used by the Department of Fire -Emergency Rescue for the purpose of providing emergency medical care in the field; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Fire recommend that the proposal received from International Medication Systems he accepted; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Formal bid procedures are hereby waived an he proposal "DOCUMENT ; INDEX ITEM NO. PI of International Medication Systems for furnishing prepackaged medications as required to the Department of Fire at an estimated total cost of $8,000.00 is hereby accepted with funds hereby allocated from the 1978-79 Operating Budget of the Department of Fire. Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue the Purchase Orders for these materials. Attes PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of MARCH MAURICE A. Crassie479 ffr�. 8 AM 8: 47 March 6, 1979 City Manager 1,1 Ci:j of F:La Recommendation for Resolution and Acceptance of Proposal for Medical Supplies Purchasing Department Resolution The Fire Department Rescue Service uses prepackaged medications in 'emergency syringes' and only one supplier produces these supplies in individual 'soft plastic' packaging, with a guaranteed shelf life. Other sources provide the supplies in bulk, which requires opening and resealing for each usage. The Department's Medical Advisor and the manufacturer have advised that this procedure jeopardizes the sterility of the contents. It is recommended that formal bid procedures be waived, and that the proposal of International Medication Systems for furnishing prepackaged medication in emergency syringes as required at an estimated total cost of $8,000.00 be accepted. The Department of Fire concurs with this recommendation. ALM/mbl 79-232
