Summer Tourism Promotional
and Advertising Campaign
It has been suggested that the members of the City Commission
might like to view the new summer tourism promotional and
advertising campaign that was presented recently to the
Tourist Development Council.
As you may recall, this promotional and advertising campaign,
designed to insure the Greater Miami area of a good summer tourist
season, is being promoted on three continents --North America,
South America and Europe.
Since a largemeasure of the visitors come from the south during
the summer, the South American campaign will also encompass the
Caribbean and Central American countries. The thrust of the
campaign is MIAMI--SEE IT LIKE A NATIVE.
The cost of the total campaign is $500,000, with $400,000 coming
from the Metro Resort Tax.
It is estimated that the total presentation will take approximately
10 to 15 minutes.
For your consideration.

Commission Presentation
The Tourist Council has recommended to the Metro Commission
that an additional $400,000 be made available for a summer
advertising program in an effort to offset the energy crisis,
if it should occur. The firm of Bober, Silverstein, Masciovecchio
and Partners, which has the joint City of Miami/Metropolitan Dade
County advertising contract, previewed the summer program for
the TDC at its last meeting. City Manager Joseph Grassie was
present representing Mayor Ferre.
Mayor Ferre has suggested that the agency and this office
stage a soecial showing for the City Commission at its April 19
meeting.
I have talked with Bob Homan about appearing at the beginning
of the agenda on April 19, and he suggested that we have your
office officially schedule the presentation.
If you have any questions, would you please call me on this.
