RESOLUTION 7 9- 2 6 6 A RESOLUTION APPROVING, RATIFYING, AND CONFIRMING THE EMERGENCY ACTION OF THE CITY MANAGER IN AUTHORIZING THE REPAIR ANI) REFURBISHING OF AERIAL LADDER NO. 9 FOR THE MIAMI FIRE DEPARTMENT AT A TOTAL COST OF $44,874.14 BY AMERICAN LA FRANCE CO., THE MANUFACTURER OF THE APPARATUS, WITHOUT FOLLOWING NORMAL BID PROCEDURES. WHEREAS, Aerial Ladder No. 9 of the Miami Fire Department was severely damaged in a vehicular accident; and WHEREAS, it was necessary to repair the unit and return it to service as soon as possible; and WHEREAS, it was also necessary to refurbish the ladder and trailer section in order to have the ladder tested and recertified; and WHEREAS, the total cost of the repairs and refurbishing was $44,874.14; and WHEREAS, funds were available in the Self Insurance Trust Fund in the amount of $33,222.14 and in the Department of Fire Capital Improvement Fund in the amount of $11,650.00, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE FLORIDA: Section 1. The emergency action of the City Manager in authorizing the repair and refurbishing of Aerial Ladder No. 9 of the Miami Fire Department at a total cost of $44,874.14 by American La France Co., the manufacturer of the unit, without following normal bid procedure is hereby approved, ratified, and confirmed. The total cost of repairs was $33,222.14. While the aerial was at the American LaFrance factory for repairs, the ladder and trailer section were refurbished and the 100' aerial ladder was tested and recertified at a cost of $11,650, for a total cost of $44,874.14. Funds were available from Risk Management Claims Recover ($33,222.14) and Fire Fighting Fir,?. Prevention and Rescue Facilities Bond Funds ($11,650).
