With the insurance Services Office rating still in the process, we are in a position to offset certain deficiency points if we move quickly. To accomplish this, the Federal Revenue Sharing monies of $121,186 designated for a computerized Fire Alarm System study Will be util- ized along with the $282,861 which was being held in abeyance for any finaladjustments due to classification audits. while the computer study is a very important facet of the Miami Fire Department, priorities now dictate that the replacement of certain apparatus and equipment is of greater importance at this particular time. With the City of Miami studying computerization in the Police Department and other departments, it is felt that the Fire Department will be able to develop their needs within the framework of this generalized study of the City of Miami computer needs. This total sum of $404,047 will make it possible to immediately advertise for bids for the following essential emergency equipment: One (1) 1500 GEM Pumper One (1) 125-ft "Firebird" Elevating Platform Complete Replacement of Protective Breathing Apparatus Replacement of Obsolete Mobile Radios Telemetry Packages, Cardioscopes and MAST Suits I concur with Chief Hickman's recommendation for adoption of this Ordinance and urge the Commission's consideration. cc: Hon.
