assistance to the City administration, are the members of :the.

1NeLOSUAtt:
Attached for Commission consideration, ',is'a proposed resolution
calling for the creation of a City of Miami Advisory Council on
Economic Development.
We urge your endorsement of this Counci.1. 'on two very important
counts:
First, as our office seeks to fulfill its mandate of
fostering economic development and promoting trade and
commercial activities, we will require more, and more the
input, advice and backing of the private sector. This
we may achieve through the utilization of a Council com-
posed of key representatives of the business sector.
Secondly, as we seek outside funds to conduct our economic
development activities, our commitments will be measured,
among other things, on the participation we have sought
from the private sector. This is not to say that a Council
should be created just to fill a technicality, on the con-
trary, but its existence would lend greater credibility to
our commitment for development and growth.
The purpose of this 15-member Council would be to study and monitor
the economic development efforts of the City of Miami, to share with
our office and with any other City officials the points of view of
the private sector vis a vis these development efforts, to serve as
the conduit between the City and the business sector and to recommend
strategies and plans of action which would maximize the impact of
development efforts in the City.
