A RESOLUTION. SUPPORTING THE NOMINATION OF THE
FREEDOM TOWER TO THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF

WHEREAS, Metropolitan Dade County, Department of Parks and Recrea-
tion, Historic Survey Division, has filed an application with the State
of Florida,: Department of State, Division of Archives, History and
Records Management requesting that the Freedom Tower, located at 600`.

Freedom Tower Support for
National Registerlistng
Metropolitan Dade County, through its historic survey section, has requested the
State of Florida to nominate the Freedom Tower. for listing on the National Register
of Historic Places. Ownershipof -the Freedom Tower is currently in litigation.
Studies have been conducted regarding the economic feasibility of restoring the
building,with conflicting conclusions. As far as I know, there has not been
a thorough structural analysis of the building.

As a concerned citizen and as a person representiflg
interested in the future of the Freedom Tower, I formally
request that your office initiate a resolution endorsing the
efforts and procedures to nominate the Freedorn Tower to the
National Register of Historic Places. As you know, the property
is now being considered by the State Review Board.
Your efforts in initiating such a resolution will weigh heavily on
the State Review Board's recommendation. For additional information
