Amendment to Capital ftnprovement
Program Appropriations Ordinance ,/87i6
Fire Fighting, Vire Prevention
& Rescue Paeilities Bond Program
traftof Amendatory ;Ordinance,
Ordinance No. 8/45, passed January 24., 1978, appropriated a total
of $100,000 for ltett #10, "Hose 'Towers, fire Prevention Vehicles,
Pire Pumps and other Pare Fquipincn°t". The current balance on the
original appropriation is approximately $16,130.
This soar is tot sufficient to built the planned Hose Tower at Pire
Station #111 and to relocate the existing Hose Tower from Fire Station
1#16 to Fire Station #12. The lowest acceptable bid to accomplish
this construction is $21,449 in addition to the $2,788 charge (13%)
by the Department of Public Works, for a total of $24,237. In order
to accomplish this proect, we will tegoire an. additional $8,100 to
be funded by utilizing a portion of the Fund Balance ($211,300) in
the fire Fighting, Fire Prevention and Reseue Facilities Bond Program,
to are presently experiencing serious difficulties in the delivery of
gasoline and diesel fuel because vendors have not been reliable in
delivering what they consider to be small quantities of fuel. It is
essential that we install two 6,000 gallon underground tanks for
gasoline and diesel fuel to ensure prompt and regular fuel deliveries.
We estimate that the installation of these tanks, the fuel dispensers
and the necessary piping and lighting will cost approximately $30,000.
This project can be funded by also utilizing a portion of the Fund
Balance ($211,300) in the Fire Fighting, Fire Prevention and Rescue
Facilities Bond Program.
In summary, the following, is requested to amend Item 1110:
fund Balance. $211,300
Nose Towers '$ 8,100.
Fuel Tanks 30,000 $173,200
Your assistance in expeditiously Placing this matter on the May 22,
1979 City Commission Agenda will be sincerely appreciated,.
