AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION I OF ORDINANCE NO, 8710
ADOPTED OCTOBER 26, 1977, THE SUMMARY GRANT APPROPRIA-
TIONS ORDINANCE, AS AMENDED, BY ESTABLISHING A NEW
TRUST AND. AGENCY FUND ENTITLED: "ARTIST -IN -RESIDENCE
DANCE PROGRAM (5TH YEAR)", AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR
THE OPERATION OF SAME IN THE AMOUNT OF $64375; CONTAINING
A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No, 8710
on October 26, 1077, establishing resourceS and appropriations fOr
grant funds anticipated by the City of Miami, Florida, and for
corresponding City matching funds: and
WHEREAS, the Fine Arts Council of Florida has awarded the
City of Miami a grant of $5,625 for an "Artist -In -Residence Dance Program
(5th Year)"; and
WHEREAS, a sum of $750 is available from Fiscal Year 1979
Special Programs and Accounts, Reserve for Fixed and Sundry, Cash Match for
Federal Grants, to be allocated to this program for the required cash match;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 8719, adopted
October 26, 1977, as amended, is hereby further amended in the
following particulars: 1/
"Section 1. The following Trust and Agency
Funds are hereby established and resources
are hereby appropriated as described herein:

Artant Award Appropriation:
Artist=in-Residence Dance Program
The attached proposed ordinance approOriates 0,375 for an "Artist -in -
Residence Dance Program." This amount indludes a grant award -of $5,626 from
the Fine Arts Council of Florida and $750 from Special Programs and Accounts,
Matching' Funds fbr Federal Grants.
The Artist -in -Residence Dance Program funds will provide six(6) hours per week
of classroom instruction under the direction of a "ballet master." Another
six ($) hours per week of classroom instruction in folk dancing will be pro.,
vided by a. choreographer.
This ordinance has been prepared for the. April 19, 1979 City Commission
meeting.

The Pine Arts Council of Florida has offered the City of Miami a grant of $6,626
to continue our Artist -In -Residence Dance Program from January 1, 1079 through
June 30, 1979, The attached, grant fact sheet 'provides a brief description of
the project,
Enclosed is an authorizing resolution and an appropriation ordinance for this
program, The two artists funded by this program have been conducting their dance
classes since January 1, 1979 without pay, Please have this item placed on the
April 19, 1979 Commission Agenda so that these artists can be reimbursed for their
services.
