At the time of the awarding of the construction bid for the improvements to Cuban Memorial Boulevard and Memorial Plaza (S.W. 13th Avenue, between S.W, 8th and 10th streets), certain items were deleted because of budget constraints, It is believed that citizens and community organizations in Little Havana would be interested in providing funds for these deleted items, principally commemorative plaques, if they were afforded the opportunity. To accomplish the purpose of purchasing these commemorative plaques and related items, it is recommended that a) the Manager be authorized to accept voluntary contributions; b) these contri- butions be placed in a specific Trust and Agency fund, and c) these funds be appropriated solely for this purpose. It is further recommended that City forces be utilized to install these plaques.
