WHEREAS, the AMeriCall Enterprise Institute , (AEI) , and the
Council of the Atnericas are co -sponsoring a two-day conference
focusing on the area of the Caribbean, with the themeof the con-
ference , which is to take place in the fall of 1979, being "Economic
Alternatives in the Caribbean" ; and
WHEREAS, the panelists will include leading public and private
sector figures of the United States and the nations of the Caribbean
basin; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the conference is to attempt to arrive
at some solutions for the persistent problems endemic to this very,
strategically arid economically important area of the Western Hemisphere
