REP EIENCE8t
During the Commission meeting of April 30, Mr. Dan Paul appeared
raising several questions regarding legal provisions as well as
business, provisions ofthe lease between the City of Miami and
the developer on the Conference Center. Since the meeting members
of the City's staff have met with Mr. Paul, the developer's attorney
and our bond counsel. We are convinced at this time that we will
be able to resolve the legal questions raised.
During the discussion, Mr. Paul suggested that the City hire an
expert in hotel and conference center operations to review the
provisions of thelease. As a result of Mr. Paul's suggestion, a
meeting was held, in the Mayor's office and. Mr. Paul introduced Mr.
William J. Burns, as an expert in hotels and conference centers.
The purpose of this memorandum is toproceed now to hire the firm
of Heritage Management Services, Inc., William. J. Burns, President,
of Cleveland, Ohio, for an amount not to exceed`:$10,000 plus expenses.
A written report will be presented for your review at the May 24th
meeting. A resolution ratifying this action will also be on this
24th meeting.
