Dear Maurice: Request . for formation of the City of Miami Health Facilities Authority was sponsored by Mercy Hospital, Inc.,' Cedars of Lebanon Hospital Corp. and Victoria Hospital, Inc. On February 22.,1978, at a hearing before the City Commission, at which hearing this writerrepresented the three named Sponsors, the City Commission did duly adopt the enabling Resolution which created said Health Facilities Authority. We believe such action by the City of Miami was wise and in the best interest of its citizenry. Now, in order that the Health Facilities Authority might consider certain undertak- ings involving the. three Sponsors above named, and possibly others within the city limits, it is necessary for the Commission to appoint the five persons to serve as members of the Authority, all of which persons must be residents of the City of Miami. The terms for which such members are to be appointed are as follows: one to serve for one year; one to serve for two years; one to serve for three years; and two to serve for four years; in each case until his or her successor is appointed and has. qualified. Without being presumptious, but since we are desirous of seeing that the, appoint- ments are made as soon as possible, we are submitting to you an attached schedule containing the names of certain residents in the City of Miami who might serve if requested by members of the. City Commission, and who by reason of their interest in the Community and business acumen, are well qualified.
