is Play to Grow"
The City of Miami, Department of Leisure Services, Programs
for the Handicapped was recently awarded a grant from the
Kennedy Foundation. to develop a project entitled "Let's Play
to Grow". We are one of (10) pilot sites from through-
out the United States selected for this new project.
The purpose of this grant is to develop a model project which
will providegreateropportunities handicapped individuals
and their families to participate in more and better leisure
activities The grant is for $1,000 with a 100% matching requirement.

This Department believes that a program such as this will bet-
ter educate parents, guardians, and/or siblings of;handicap-
ped individuals as to the `'methods-. in i ntereacti ng, in organized
leisure experiences (i.e., swimming, playground activities,
sports, etc.).
Since the City of Miami is, only one of ten organizations to be
selected as a model site, this program will bring national
visibility to the city's efforts on behalf of its Handicapped
Citizens.
