HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-79-0425r. • RESOLUTION NO. 7 9 - 4 2 5 A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING $206,050.00 OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FUNDS FROM FOURTH AND FIFTH YEAR FEDERAL COMMUNITY DEVELOP- MENT BLOCK GRANT FUND TO NEW WASHINGTON HEIGHTS OFFICE'OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, INC., FOR THE PURPOSE OF CARRYING OUT THE .ACTIVITIES DESCRIBED IN THE ATTACHED WORK PROGRAM AND.. BUDGET FOR THE CONTRACT PERIOD COMMENCING JULY 1, 1979,-.AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1980; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH SAID AGENCY. "SUPPORTIVE UDC UNIENTS FOLLOVV" WHEREAS, Motion No. 79-255 on April 19, 1979, directed the Administration to proceed with the Community Development Task Force's request for additional funding, subject to receipt and review by the City Commission of it pro- posed budget delineating intended expenditure of these funds; and WHEREAS, a sum of $100,000.00 is available from the City of Miami t Interim Assistant Program's fourth year Federal Community Development Block Grant allocation; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 79-98, on February 22, 1979, allocated $106,050 for Economic Development in Culmer: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. $206,050.00 of Community Development Block Grant Funds--' Is hereby allocated to New Washington Heights Office of Economic Develop- ment, Inc., for the purpose of carrying out the activities described in the attached work program and budget. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with said agency for implementation of its program for the period commencing July 1, 1979, and ending June 30, 1980. This material has been developed jointly by the staffs of the New 'Washington Heights office, the Department of Citizen Services, and the Office of Trade and Commerce Promotion, in response to the City Commission's request that the Agency receive an additional $100,000.00 in C.D. funds for the. next program year. It is suggested that the additional $100,000.00 be taken from unspent funds from the City's Interim Assistance Program. This action will allow the Interim Assistance Program to operate at its current level of service without cutting their fifth year program, and will bring the funding level for New Washington Heights to $206,050.00.
