ORDINANCE NO,:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 8719,
ADOPTED OCTOBER 2B, 1977, THE SUMMARY GRANT APPROPRIA-
TIONS ORDINANCE, AS AMENDED, BY ESTABLISHING A NEW
TRUST AND AGENCY FUND ENTITLED: "SUMMER FOOD SERVICE
PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN-1970", AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
FOR THE OPERATION . OF SAME IN THE AMOUNT OF $154,880;
CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE; AND DISPENSING WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF
READING THE SAME ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS BY A VOTE OF
NOT 'LESS THAN FOUR -FIFTHS OF THE MEMBERS OP THE
COMMISSION.
rt0PAS, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 8719
on October 26, 1977, establishing resources and appropriations for grant
•iunds anticipated by the City of Miami, Florida, and for corresponding
City matching funds; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Education, Food and Nutrition
•tanagemeot has agreed to reimburse the City of Miami at a rate of $1.10 per
summer lanai provided to children within the parks of the City of Miami; and
as amended, is hereby further amended in the following particulars;

WHEREAS, the $1.10 reimbursement will provide for both operational
and administrative costs for the program, and
WHEREAS, an estimated 140,800 lunches will be.served during the
project period starting June 18, 1979 and ending August 17, 1979, and
i;i:aPrM , the City Commission passed Resolution No. 79-342 on May 22,
1979 authorizing the City Manager to accept the grant award; and
VIIEREAS, an estimated $154,880 will be received from the State of
Florida for carrying out the program,

Section 3. If any settion, part of section, paragraph, clause,
phrase or word of this ordinance, is declared invalid the remaining provisions of
this ordinance shall not be affected,
Section 4. The requirement of reading this ordinance on two separate
days is hereby dispensed with by a vote of not less than four -fifths of the members
•of the Commission.

Appropriation Ordinance
Summer Food Service
Program for Children-1979
Enclosed for your review is a draft of an, ordinance
to 'appropriate $154,880 for a'Summer Food Service
Program for Children-1979. Funds -for thie program,
are -made available to the State of Florida by the
United States Department of Agriculture. Our
agreement, will be with the Florida, Department of.
Education. The City -Commission has already
authorized (Resolution #79-342 passed May 22, 1979)
to accept the'grant. No City.cash-contribution is
needed to carry out the program.
The program will provide free lunches to children at
twenty-seven (27).`City :of Miami. parks. and playgrounds
during the summer. months, June 18 through August 17, 1979.
Eligible participants must be under'eighteen (18) years
of age and must consume the meal on the park site.
Thirty-two hundred (3200) lunches will be serveddaily;
140,800.for the total program, which also funds
personnel such as a program director, six site super-
visors and foursite, monitors -to insure that proper:..
guidelines are. followed.
