A710 ADOPTED ON OCTOBER 26, 1977, THE SUMMARY GRANT APPROPRI. ATIONS ORDINANCE, AS AMENDED: BY ESTABLISHING A NEW TRUST AND AGENCY FUND ENTITLED; "LET'S PLAY TO GROW", AND APPRO- PRIATING FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OP SAME IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,000; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND DISPENSING WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF READING TEl SAME ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS BY A VOTE OF NOT LESS THAN FOUR.FIPTHS OF THE MEMBERS or THE COMMISSION. WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 8719 'on October 26, J977, establishing resources and appropriations for grant funds antici- pated by the City of Miami, Florida, and for corresponding City matching funds; and WHEREAS, the Kennedy Foundation has awarded the City of Miami a grant of $1,000 to carry out a program to educate parents, guardians, and/or siblings of handicapped individuals in methods to encourage the handicapped person to participate in organized leisure programs such as swimming, sports, and playground activities; and WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that special programs and activities must be initiated by the City if handicapped persons are to participate fully in the leisure programs available within the City's parks; and WHEREAS, a sum of $1,000 is available from Fiscal Year 1979 Special Programs and Accounts, Matching Funds for Federal Grants, to provide the required cash match for the grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 8719, adopted October 26, 1977, as amended, is hereby further amended in the following particulars;11 "Section 1, The following Trust and Agency Funds are hereby established and resources ore hereby appropriated as described herein: 1/ Words and or figures stricken through shall be deleted. Ali ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance 6Pe hereby repealed. Section 3. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinances is declared invalid, the remaining pro- visions of this ordinance shall not be affected, Section 4. The requirement of reading this ordinance on two separate days it hereby dispensed with by a vote of not less than four -fifths of the members of the Commission. We are one of ten (10) pilot sites throughout the United States selected for this new project. These funds were allocated with the expectation that the City would provide a cash match of $1.000. Mr. John Baldwin. tants CoOrdinator, has approved a $1.000 cash match for this project. This project will be funded for one year with expectations that it will be renewed during the next fiscal year. We plan to develop a model project which will provide greater opportunities for handicapped individuals and their families to participate together ih meaningful leisure activities.
