' dget 111 July 2, 1979 .IJJ=•- Proposed Ordinance: Appropriate Proceeds from Hand Guns to Police Department Ordinance The Police Department reports that the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 79-313 on April 30, 1979 accepting the March 20, 1979 bid of Tamiami Distributors for the sale of 300 guns confis- cated by the Department of Police, at a total price of $24,390. At the same time, the Police Department is requesting that the proceeds from the sale of the handguns be allocated toward the purchase of the following equipment: 3 Microfilm Readers to replace obsolete Memorex Viewers currently used in Communications, Auto Theft and Special Investigation Sections @ $3,743 each for a total cost of $11,229. If this is approved, the balance of $13,161 will be used to purchase approximately 145 Smith and Wesson Model 64 Revolvers. The request for the microfilm reader is urgent inasmuch as Metro has converted to the Microfilm system and Metro's cassettes will not fit the Police Department's current readers. Attached is the proposed Ordinance appropriating the proceeds of the gun sale for the purchase of the required equipment. This legislation has been prepared for the July 11, 1979 City Commission meeting. /cl J+ p.tao. 7,/
