WITH THE RE- QUIREMENT OF ADINAME ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS ay A VOTE OF NOT LESS THAN FOUR-F/FTHS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION, WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 8719 on October 26, 1977 establishing resources and appropriations for grant funds anticipa ted by the City of Miami, Florida, and for corresponding City Cash Match requirements; and WHEREAS, the State of Florida, Department of Health and Rehabilita- tive services has approved a grant award of $17,712.00 to the City of Miami for °Recreation Programs for the Mentally Retarded (rd. Year)"; and WHEREAS, the above mtntioned State of Florida, Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services requires that the City contribute an additional $2,214,00 in certified public expenditures toward the "Recreation Programs for the Mentally Retarded"; and WHEREAS, this program willserve an unmet need of leisure services to mentally retarded adults; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section I. Section I of Ordinance No. 8719, adopted October 26, 1977, as amended, is hereby further amended in the following particulars:1/ fie • IP I! 14. "Section 1. All ordinances or parts Of ordinances in so far as they are inconsistent or it conflict with the provisions tf this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section S. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase or word of this ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provi- sions of this ordinance shall not be affected. Section 4. The requirement of reading this ordinance on two separate days i s hereby dispensed with by a vote of not less than four -fifths of the members of the Commission. The State of Florida, Department of Health and Rehabili. tative Services, recently allocated $17,712,00 in addi- tional revenues to the City of Miami for "State Grant, Program for the Handicapped (Srd year)", The City it required to contribute S2,214.00 in certified public expenditures(in.kiild services). These funds will be used to provide recreational and leisure services to mentally retarded adults, to that they are able to live as "normal" a life as possible, The components of this program are: a. Recreation b. Health and Nutrition c. Prevocational Skills d. Modality Training e. Language Arts f. Social Perceptual Training Clients will attend the programs five (5) days a week, six (6) hours a day at a City of Miami park. This program will meet an un-met need of leisure service to mentally retarded adults above the age of forty-five.
