HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-089810 LCD/rb 8/28/79 AMENDMENT NO. 37 TO ORDINANCE NO. 8719 ORDINANCE NO. 8981 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 8719, ADOPTED OCTOBER 26, 1977, THE SUMMARY GRANT APPROPRIATIONS ORDINANCE, BY APPROPRIATING INTO THE TRUST AND AGENCY FUND AN AMOUNT OF $5,904 FOR THE OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM ENTITLED: "RECREATION FOR THE MENTALLY RETARDED (3RD YEAR)"; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND DISPENSING WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF READING THE SAME ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS BY A VOTE OF NOT LESS THAN FOUR -FIFTHS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION. WHEREAS, the Ci_cy Commission adopted Ordinance No. 8719 on October 26, 1977 establishing resources and appropriations for grant funds anticipated by the City of Miami, Florida, and for corresponding City Cash Match requirements; and WHEREAS, the State of Florida, Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services, has previously awarded the City of Miami, Department of Leisure Services, three (3) grants totalling $44,417 for "Recreation Programs for the Mentally Retarded (3rd Year)"; and WHEREAS, the State of Florida, Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services has approved an additional grant award of $5,904 to the City of Miami for said program; and WHEREAS, the above mentioned State of Florida, Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services requires that the City con- ribute an additional. $738 in certified public expenditures which will be provided by monies appropriated in the General Fund, Special Programs and Accounts, for "Recreation Programs for the Mentally Retarded (3rd Year)"; and WHEREAS, this program will fill a critical need of leisure activity for mentally retarded adults; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 8719, adopted Octo- ber 26, 1977, as amended, the Summary Grant Appropriation Ordi- Iw 8981 �• nance is hereby further amended in the following particulars:l/ * "Section l.. The following Trust and Agency Funds are hereby established and resources are hereby appro- priated as described herein: * FUND TITLE: Recreation Programs for the Mentally Retarded (3rd Year) CURRENT RESOURCES: State of Florida, Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services Grant Award, 1979 $ 5,904 CURRENT APPROPRIATION: Recreation Program for the Mentally Retarded (3rd Year) $ 5,904 PREVIOUS APPROPRIATIONS: ORDINANCE NO. 8888 - $15,076 ORDINANCE NO. 8944 - $11,629 ORDINANCE NO. 8967 - $17,712 Total Previous Appropriations: $44,147 ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION: $ 5,904 Total Appropriations: $50,321" Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3. If any section, part of section, paragraph, phrase or word of this ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this ordinance shall not be affected. Section 4. The requirement of reading this ordinance on two separate days is hereby dispensed with by a vote of not less than four -fifths of the members of the Commission. The City is required to contribute $738.00 in certified public expenditures. These funds will be used to provide recreational and leisure services to mentally retarded adults, so that they are able to live as "normal" a life as possible. Clients will attend these programs five (5) days a week, at City of Miami parks. These programs will meet an un-met need of leisure services to mentally retarded adults.
