SUUJCCT:
Tourism Transfer to Dade County
Pensions for Employees
rIE ERENCES:
ENCLOSURES:
Attached is a resolution which confirms the understandings that you and Merrett
Stierheim achieved concerning City employees who are currently part of the City's
pension program and who will be employed by Dade County as a result of the
transfer of responsibilities for Tourism Promotion from the City to the County.
The agreement provides that employees moving to Dade County would be permitted to
remain in the City's pension program. Dade County would contribute an amount
equal to the percentage that they contribute for all County employees into the
State Retirement System. City employees wishing to remain in the City's pension
program would be required to make up the difference between Dade County's
contribution, approximately 9% and the City's contribution of approximately 14%.
It is of course, the employee's option to remain in the City's pension program.
They may choose to become members of the State Retirement System as are other
County employees.
