HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-09003r R'C/rr 10/4/79 ORDINANCE NO. 9003 AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 54-17 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, AND SUBSTITUTING THEREFOR A NEW SECTION 54-17 ESTABLISHING A NEW SCHEDULE OF PERMIT FEES TO BE CHARGED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS UPON THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: STREET EXCAVATION, SIDEWALK REPAIR, PAVING OR RESURFACING OF PARKWAY OR SHOULDER AREA, BUILDING LINE AND GRADE, SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION, DRIVEWAY CONSTRUCTION, FLUME EXCAVATION, UTILITY POLE PLACEMENT, UNDERGROUND UTILITY SER- VICE CONNECTION EXCAVATION, AND PERMIT RENEWAL; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; DISPENSING WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF READING THE SAME ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS BY A VOTE OF NOT LESS THAN FOUR -FIFTHS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 54-17 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, is hereby repealed in its entirety and the following is substituted therefor: "Sec. 54-17. Permit fees for street excavation, sidewalk repair, paving or resurfac- ing of parkway or shoulder area, building line and grade, sidewalk construction, driveway construction, flume excavation, utility pole place- ment, underground utility service connection excavation, and permit renewal. The permit fees to be charged by the department of public works for street excavation, sidewalk repair, paving or resurfacing of parkway or shoulder area, building line and grade, sidewalk construction, driveway construction, flume excavation, utility pole placement, underground utility service connection excavation, and permit renewal within the city are hereby fixed as follows: Fee Schedule (a) Street Excavation permit 1. 50 Lineal Ft. or less 2. Each additional 100 Lin.Ft. or less $20 $5 (b) Sidewalk Repair Permit up to maximum of 50 Lineal Ft. $10 plus $1 per Lin.Ft. (c) Sidewalk Construction Permit 1. 75 Lineal Ft. or less $75 2. Each additional 25 Lineal Ft. or less $10 (d) Paving or Resurfacing of Parkway or Shoulder area permit $50 (e) Building Line and Grade Permit 1. Up to 75 Lineal Ft. $75 2. Each additional 25 Lineal Ft. or fraction thereof $10 (f) Driveway Construct Permit up to maximum of 50 Lineal Ft. $5 plus $1 per Lin.Ft. (g) Flume Excavation Permit each excavation $5 per Lineal Foot (h) Utility Pole Placement Permit $15 plus $1 for each additional pole per block (on same permit) (i) Underground Utility Service Con- nection Right of Way Excavation Permit Each water, gas, electric, telephone or sanitary sewer connection from property line to the utility located within the public right of way 1. 50 Lineal Ft. or less $20 2. Each 100 Lineal Feet or less $5 (j) Permit Renewal Fee 90-day extension of permit expiration date $25 Permit fees will be computed only for the primary item of work for which a permit is required. The fee collected will also cover items of work incidental to the primary item and all processing and inspection services rendered by the department of public works." Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this ordinance shall not be affected. Section 4. The requirement of reading this ordinance on two separate days is hereby dispensed with by a vote of not less than four -fifths of the members of the Commission. In accordance with discussions at our department budget reviews, attached please find a proposed ordinance rewriting Section 54-17 of the City Code. Recap on the attached sheet shows the proposed fee changes. These fees were last revised in 1972.
