HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-79-0770"SU ^�?"l�.�E DOC Pv`'f NTS FOLLOW" RESOLUTION NO. 79 - 770 A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE PRIMARY ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 1979 FOR THE NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR AND THREE COMMISSIONERS -OF THE CITY_ OF MIAMI', FLORIDA. WHEREAS, a primary election was duly held on Novem- ber 6, 1979 for nomination of candidates for the offices of Mayor and three Commissioners of the CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA; and WHEREAS, said election was duly conducted in accordance with law including the provisions of the "Electronic Voting Systems Act" 0101.5601 through §101.5615, Fla.Stat.); and WHEREAS, the official returns of each of 87 election precincts in the herein. election of November 6, 1979 have been duly certified by RALPH G. ONGIE, City Clerk, Super- visor of Elections for the City of Miami, Florida,; ITEM NO. and those official returns have been delivered to and duly canvassed by the City Commission;. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Commission finds and hereby declares and certifies that the following candidates in their respec- tive groups received the number of votes set opposite their respective names in the Primary Election held in the CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, on November 6, 1,979: GROUP I For Mayor Maurice A. Section 3.: It is hereby certified and declared that in GROUP I (For Mayor) MAURICE A. FERRE received a majority o votes cast in GROUP I, and shall be considered elected and hold said office for a term of two (2) years from Noon on November 9, 1979. Section 4. It is hereby certified and declared that in GROUP II (For Commissioner) the names of JOE CAROLLO and DEMETRIO PEREZ, JR. be placed uponthe ballot in alpha- betical order as candidates for the office of Commissioner in Group II at the Regular Election to be held on November 13, 1979. -2- 79-770 Section 5. It is hereby certified and declared that in GROUP III (For Commissioner) J. L. PLUMMER, JR. received a majority of votes cast in GROUP III and shall be considered elected and shall hold said office for a term of four (4) years from Noon on November 9, 1979. Section 6. It is hereby certified and declared that in GROUP IV (For Commissioner) ARMANDO E. LACASA received a majority of votes cast in GROUP IV and shall be considered elected and shall hold said office for a term of two (2) years from Noon on November 9, 1979. Section 7. The City Commission also hereby finds, declares and certifies: (a) said Primary Election was duly and properly held and notice thereof was duly given in accordance with law; (b) all steps in connection with and leading up to said Primary Election were duly, regularly and lawfully taken and had; and (c) all applicable provisions of the Constitution and statutes of the State of Florida, the Dade County Election Code, and the City Code have been duly complied with. Section 8. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to perform any and all incidental duties tion herewith as required by law. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1979. MAURICE A. ONGIE, City Clerk of the City of Miami, Florida -do hereby certify that all necessary legal steps in connection with the conducting of a City of Miami Primary Election held on November 6, 1979 were followed, i.e., logic and accuracy tests were held on Friday, November 2, 1979, using dummy ballots to determine that the computer was functioning correctly, and a similar test was conducted beginning at 5:00 o'clock P.M. on election night, Tuesday, November 6, 1979, and that all documents concerning these logic and accuracy tests showed the computer to be functioning correctly and are in the possession of the Supervisor of Elections of Metropolitan Dade County, under sealed vault.
