A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING $48,000 OF.COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT (FIFTH YEAR) FUNDS PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIATED
BY ORDINANCE NO. 8943 ADOPTED JUNE 4, 1979; TO PROVIDE
$25,000 FOR THE INDUSTRIAL HOME FCR THE BLIND AND
$23,000 FOR LOS VIEJOS UTILES IN THE LITTLE HAVANA TARGET
AREA OF THE CITY OF MIAMI FOR THE PERIOD COMMENCING
NOVEMBER 26, 1979 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1980; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH.
SAID APPROVED SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAMS.
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 79-98 adopted February 22, 1979, authorized the.
City Manager to submit a grant application to the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development (HUD) for the proposed Community Development Block
Grant (Fifth Year) funds; and
WHEREAS, said grant funds have been appropriated by Ordinance No. 8943
adopted June 4, 1979; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has previously expressed a desire through
Motion of Intent No. 79-634,passed on September 25, 1979, to provide addi-
tional funding to two programs in the Little Havana Target Area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,.

Section 1. A total of $48,000 of Community Dev444nQi
(Fifth Year) funds appropriated by Ordinance No. 8943, adopted June 4, 1979,
is hereby allocated to the two agencies listed below to provide for an elderly
multiple service program and expansion of a work -oriented program for the
blind in the Little Havana Target Area of the City of Miami:.
1) Industrial Home for the Blind
2) Los Viejos Utiles

Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into agreement
with said social service agencies for implementation of the aforementioned
programs for the period commencing November 26, 1979, and ending June 30, 1980.

Development Funds for Social
Service Programs
It is recommended that $48,000 of Community
Development Block Grant (Fifth Year)' funds
be allocated to Industrial Home for the
Blind ($25,000) and Los Viejos Utiles
($23,000) to fund these programs for a
period commencing November 26-, 1979 through.
September 30, 1980.
The City Commission expressed a desire through Motion of Intent No. 79-634 passed
on September 25, 1979 to provide additional funding to these two programs in the
Little Havana target area. The $25,000 for Industrial Home for the Blind is to
be used to expand a work oriented program for the agency's blind clients. The
$23,000 for Los Viejos Utiles is to be used to provide an Elderly Multi -Service
program for the aged in the Little Havana target area.
The attached legislation also authorizes the City. Manager to enter into agreement
with the above social service agencies for implementation of the aforementioned
programs and services.
Since this item was previously approved by a Motion of Intent, it maybe possible
to add this to the.. consent agenda for the Commission Meeting of November 8, 1979.
