FOR THE HOSE DRYING TOWERS (2ND BIDDING) AT A TOTAL COST OF $23,249.00;' AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN THE CONTRACT IN THE NET AMOUNT OF $1,800.00; AND AUTHORIZING A FINAL PAYMENT OF $7,099.04 WHEREAS, there exists a contract dated June 6, 1979 between the City of Miami and M.E.T. Construction, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the work has been satisfactorily completed,; and M.E.T. Construction, Inc. has furnished the required documents certifying that all bills for labor and materials have been paid in full in connection with the aforesaid contract; and WHEREAS, there were 22 days extra work due to additional bracing for the towers which resulted in an increase in the contract; also new lower price was negotiated with the contractor for performing the painting work, and it was subsequently included in the work; and WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available in the account "Fire Fighting, Fire Prevention, and Rescue,f; 1UCUMEI% Facilities G.O. Bond Fund"; and ITEM NO. WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department o Public Works recommend the increase of $1,800.00 to cover the increase in the contract; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Cather i" Director of Public -Works December 14, 1979 HOSE DRYING TOWERS (2ND, BIDDING) - Resolution for Increase in Contract and Final Payment B-2741 (For Commission Meeting of December 27, 1979) The Department of Public Works recommends the adoption of the resolution authorizing an increase in the contract in the amount of_$1,800.00 for the HOSE DRYING TOWERS (2ND BIDDING), accepting the completed work performed by M.E.T. Construction, Inc. at a total cost of $23,249.00, and author- izing a final payment of $7,099.04. M.E.T. Construction, Inc. has completed the project con- sisting of constructing a new.hose drying tower at Fire Station No. 11, located at 5920 West Flagler Street, and relocating an existing tower to Fire Station No. 12, located at 1455 N. W. 46 Street. During the course of the work it was determined that additional bracing for the towers would be required resulting in 22 days extra work. New lower price was negotiated with the contractor for performing the painting work, and it was subsequently included in the work. Sufficient funds are available in the Fire Fighting, Fire Prevention,. and Rescue Facilities G.O. Bond Fund. ` This was a lump ; sum contract in the amount of $21,449.00, but the 'completed contract amount is plus $1,800.00 for the increase.
