HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-79-0874RESOLUTION NO. 7'9 - 8 7 4 A RESOLUTION CONDITIONALLY AUTHORIZING THE CLOSING OF CERTAIN STREETS FOR THE THREE KINGS -ORANGE BOWL PARADE TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 6, 1980, BETWEEN 1:00 P.M. AND 5:00 P.M. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following streets are hereby closed between 1:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 6, 1980, for the holding of the THREE KINGS -ORANGE BOWL PARADE: 8th Street Closed From 27th Avenue to 4th Avenue Closed Section 2. Resolution Closing Streets For several years the City of Miami has provided certain services to WQBA in their efforts to sponsor the Annual Three Kings/Orange Bowl Parade. On Thursday, December 13th, I met with Mr Herbert Levin, General Manager, to coordinate City - of Miami efforts. The following is information regarding this event, as well as services requested from City Departments for the 9th Annual Three Kings Parade, which will be held on Sunday, January 6, 1980. Parade Route: The parade will begin on S. W. 8th Street and 4th Avenue and and proceed west on 8th Street to the corner of 8th Street and::Beacom Boule- vard, where it will disband. It is anticipated that the parade will last from 1 to 5 P.M. Various groups will assemble into the forming areas beginning at 9 A.M. Forming Areas: S. W. 4th Avenue from 8th 'Street to llth Street on S. W. 9th Street, 10th Street and llth Street between 4th Avenue and 6th-Avenue, 15th Road from llth Street to 3rd Avenue and S. W. 5th Avenue, llth Street to approximately 19th Road. Request from Police Department: Police protection and traffic control before, during and after the parade; participation within the parade of the Police Motorcycle Unit. Request from Department of Public Works: Tree trimming in the public right- of-way in order to make it possible for floats to travel smoothly. Request from Fire Department: Fire Rescue Units stationed at key locations during the parade. Request from Department of Solid Waste: Cleaning of parade: route and forming areas before and after parade I have informed all Departments of .the, services requested by WQBA. They are presently making arrangements to furnish what services they can to make this event a success.- Attached please find a Resolution which authorizes the closing of certain streets for said parade. 79-874
