HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-09035ORDINANCE NO. 9035 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 39-16.1 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF REVISING THE FEES CHARGED FOR THE CHILD DAY CARE PROGRAM; CONTAINING A REPEALER CLAUSE AND A SEVERABILITY PROVISION. WHEREAS, the acquisition of the Edison -Little River Child Care Center has increased the cost for the operation of the Day Care Program and anticipated funds from sources other than fees are insufficient to offset the said increase; and WHEREAS, projected revenue from a minimal increase of the current fee schedule would supply funds sufficient for said program; WHEREAS, the Child Day Care Committee has evaluated the situation and has recommended the revision described herein; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 39-16.1 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, is hereby further amended by increasing fees charged for resident and nonresident children as follows:1/ "Sec.39-16.1. A $5.00 late charge will be assessed for fees submitted on second day or thereafter. A nonrefundable registration fee of $10.00 is required for each child at the beginning of each of the fall and summer terms of the program. After school care fee shall be $8.00 weekly with no discounts regarding family income for children through age eight (8). Hours of operation shall be determined by the City Manager or his designated appointee. " Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this ordinance shall not be affected. Care program be moderately increased using a sliding scale based on family income and that an aftersChool program be established as per the attached ordinance. Inthat the Child Day Care Committee has of steadily increasing cost in providing coupled with the City's absortiom of the additional facility, a moderate increase recommended as being necessary to obtain continued operations.
