A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE COMPLETED WORK
PERFORMED BY JOE REINERTSON EQUIPMENT CO. INC.
AT A TOTAL COST OF $245,163.74 FOR THE CITY
OF MIAMI/UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI JAMES L. KNIGHT
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE CENTER - PHASE II -
SITE WORK (JOB No. B-3148-E); AND AUTHORIZING
FINAL PAYMENT OF $20,678.38.
WHEREAS, there exists a contract dated October 2, 1978,
between the City of Miami and Joe Reinertson Equipment Co. Inc; and
WHEREAS, the work has been satisfactorily completed, and
Joe Reinertson Equipment Co. Inc., has furnished the required
documents certifying that all bills for labor and materials have been
paid in full in connection with the aforesaid contract; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Contract Project Director
both recommend that the completed work be accepted and final payment
made to the contractor;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The completed work performed by Joe Reinertson
Equipment Co. Inc.for CONVENTION CENTER PHASE II - SITE WORK (Job
No B-3148-E) at a total cost of $245,163.74 is hereby approved.
Section 2. The proper officials of the City of Miami are
hereby authorized to pay $20,678.38 to Joe Reinertson Equipment Co.
Inc. as full and final payment for work performed and all materials
furnished in connection with CONVENTION CENTER PHASE II - SITE WORK
(Job No. B-3148-E).

It is recommended that a resolution be
passed, accepting the completed work
performed by the Joe Reinertson Equipment
Co., Inc. and authorizing final payment
of $20,678.38 for the City of Miami/
University of Miami James L. Knight
International Conference Center Phase II.
site work (Job No. B-3148-E) at a total
cost of $245,163.74
Joe Reinertson Equipment Co., Inc. has completed the contract, dated
October 2, 1978, known as Convention Center, Phase II - Site Work.
The original contract amount was $224,000.00, including ,an allowance
of $15,000.00 for special items. A subsequent resolution, No. 79-751,
increased the scope of work by $27,363.99, thereby increasing the
contract amount to $251,363.99. This increase was due_ to elevating
the foundation of the building and eliminating the required dewatering
in the following contract, which resulted in a substantial savings
of $34,843.00, excluding the amount of increase in this contract. The
final amount for the completed contract was $245,163.74
Due to the increase in the scope of work the project ended May 3, 1979;
54 days after original completion date of March 12, 1979.
It is now in order for the Commission to accept the completed work and
authorize final payment, after all conditions are met.
The Department of Conference Center recommends the adoption of a resolu-
tion accepting the completed work and authorizing a final payment of
$20,678:38 to Joe Reinertson Equipment Co. for the Convention Center -
Phase II Site Work.
