A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM THE MIAMI
DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY ("MIAMI DDA") IN AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED $650,000.00 TO THE CITY OF MIAMI TO UNDERWRITE
COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH ENHANCED POLICE SERVICES WITHIN THE
MIAMI DDA AREA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, AND ANY AND
ALL OTHER NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE
CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE.
SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Manolo Reyes
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") is responsible for public safety throughout the City,
which includes the Miami Downtown Development Authority ("MIAMI DDA") ("Area"); and
WHEREAS, the Miami Police Department ("MPD") has presented the MIAMI DDA with
an operational plan for the "MIAMI DDA Detail," an innovative service -oriented police unit in a
problem solving team capacity to support the continued working partnerships with the MIAMI
DDA, residents, business owners, and the homeless outreach programs; and
WHEREAS, the City, by and through the MPD, will utilize the subject grant funds to
administer the MIAMI DDA Detail and provide enhanced police services including increased
patrols to address issues relating to quality of life within the Area; and
WHEREAS, the MIAMI DDA authorized the grant funds to be disbursed throughout the,
term of this agreement on a reimbursement basis to the City upon presentation of invoices and
satisfactory documentation; and c:,1"-
WHEREAS, no match is required of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to accept said grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF 77
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The acceptance of a grant from the MIAMI DDA in an amount not to exceed
$650,000.00 to the City to underwrite costs associated with enhanced police services within the
Area is authorized.'

Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to execute the grant agreement, in
substantially the attached form, and any and all other necessary documents, in a form
acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2

The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be
imposed, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
