OF MULTI -HOUSING RENTAL UNITS TO CONDOMINIUMS WHILE THE CITY COMMISSION SEEKS
ANOTHER MEANS OF ALLEVIATING THE HOUSING SHORTAGE, SUBJECT TO AN OPINION FROM
THE CITY ATTORNEY RULING AS TO THE LEGALITY OF THE COMMISSION'S INTENT; AND
FURTHER PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF A PUBLIC HEARING TO BE HELD AT THE
MEETING OF MARCH 18TH SUCH PUBLIC HEARING SUBJECT ALSO TO THE LEGAL OPINION
REQUESTING OF THE CITY ATTORNEY.
A MOTION REQUESTING AND DIRECTING THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT AND THE PLANNING DE-
PARTMENT BE INSTRUCTED TO RESEARCH AND SUBMIT TO THIS CITY COMMISSION WITHIN
THE NEXT SIXTY DAYS AN OPINION AND RECOMMENDATION AS TO THE FEASIBILITY OF
CREATING A NEW ZONING CLASSIFICATION ALLOWING MULTI -FAMILY HIGH -DENSITY UNITS
FOR RENTAL PURPOSES ONLY.
1)MOTION INSTRUCTING THE CITY OF MIAMI FOLK FESTIVAL COMMITTEE TO HOLD A MEET-
ING TO DISCUSS A SEARCH FOR AN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR THE FESTIVAL AND FURTHEI
REQUESTING THAT THEY RECOMMEND NO LESS THAN THE NAMES OF THREE (3) PROSPECTIVI
APPLICANTS TO SUCH VACANCY; 2) FURTHER INSTRUCTING THE FOLK FESTIVAL COMMITTEI
TO RECOMMEND TWO ALTERNATE INDIVIDUALS OR ORGANIZATIONS WHO COULD TAKE CHARGE
FOR PUTTING ON THE FESTIVAL; 3) FURTHER STIPULATING THAT ANY INDIVIDUALS WHO
MIGHT RESIGN FROM THE FOLK FESTIVAL COMMITTEE, THE CITY COMMISSION SHALL
EXAMINE THE MAKE UP OF THE FULL FOLK FESTIVAL COMMITTEE SO THAT ALL ETHNIC
GROUPS BE PROPERLY REPRESENTED, AND TO AVOID ANY ONE GROUP TO DOMINATE OR
CONTROL THE COMMITTEE'S MAKE-UP; 5) FURTHER REQUESTING THAT THE FOLK FESTIVAL
COMMITTEE SUBMIT TO THE CITY COMMISSION THE RECOMMENDED NAMES OF INDIVIDUALS
FOR THE COMMISSION'S APPROVAL AND REQUESTING THE ADMINISTRATION TO COME BACK
TO THE CITY COMMISSION WITH A DEFINITE RECOMMENDATION FOR ROTATING THE NEW
EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATOR'S TERM OF OFFICE, SUCH RECOMMENDATION TO BE SUBMITTED
NO LATER THAN MARCH 31, 19853 AND FURTHER STIPULATING THAT MORTY FREEDMAN
NOT BE RETAINED AS CHAIRMAN OF THE FOLK FESTIVAL COMMITTEE DURING THE INTERIM
PERIOD OF TIME WHILE THE NEW DIRECTOR IS BEING SELECTED.
A MOTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING IN PRINCIPLE THE CONCLUSIONS AND
RECOR,IENDATIONS OF THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT AS PRESENTED BEFORE THE CITY COM
MISSION ON THIS DATE IN CONNECTION WITH ALTERNATIVES IN THE FUTURE DEVELOP-
MENT AROUND THE BRICKELL STATION AREA, NAMELY, RECOMMENDATIONS IN CONNECTION
WITH THE LIMITATION OF PARKING SPACES, FUTURE EFFORTS INTENDED TO DOWNPLAY
THE USE OF AUTOMOBILES AS A MODE OF ACCESS TO THE AREA; HEAVY EMPHASIS ON THE
CONSTRUCTION OF PEDESTRIAN WALKWAYS; SHUTTLE BUS ROUTES, AND RELIANCE ON THE
DOWNTOWN PEOPLE MOVER, PRESENTING SUCH RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE PUBLIC AT THE
PRESENT TIME AS A PRELIMINARY POLICY OF THE CITY COMMISSION TO LET CITIZENS
KNOW THE CITY COMMISSION IS THINKING IN THIS DIRECTION; SUCH RECOMMENDATIONS
SUBJECT TO FINAL DISPOSITION WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR AFTER A FULL REPORT IS
