HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-80-0280oe' RESOLUTION NO. 8 0- 00.080 A RESOLUTION CLOSING CERTAIN STREETS IN THE OVERTOWN COMMUNITY TO THROUGH TRAFFIC ON SATURDAY, APRIL 19, 1980, BETWEEN 7:00 A.M. AND 9:00 P.M., IN CONNECTION WITH THE OVERTOWN COMIN' ALIVE FESTIVAL, SPONSORED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOP- MENT, DEPARTMENT OF LEISURE SERVICES AND THE CULTURAL ADVISORY COUNCIL OF OVERTOWN TO EFFECTUATE SAFE PEDESTRIAN PASSAGE DURING THE CELEBRATION OF THE OVERTOWN COMIN' ALIVE FESTIVAL; FURTHER ESTABLISHING THE AREA PROHIBITED TO RETAIL PEDDLERS DURING THE AFORESAID CELEBRATION. WHEREAS, the Cultural Advisory Council of Overtown has 5th Year Community Development funds allocated for cultural programs in the Overtown community; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Department of Community Development and Department of Leisure Services will be assisting the Cultural Advisory Council of Overtown in holding a one day festival called OVERTOWN COMIN' ALIVE; and WHEREAS, all costs associated with the festival, will be paid for from funds allocated to the Cultural Advisory Council of Overtown; and "DOCUMENT. INDE; ITEM NO - WHEREAS, in addition to the planned cultural activities, there will be sale of home cooked food and crafts by local residents during the festival hours. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. N.W. 2nd Avenue between N.W. 7th Street and N.W. llth Street is hereby closed to traffic on Saturday, April 19, 1980, between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., in connection with the OVERTOWN COMIN' ALIVE FESTIVAL, sponsored by the City of Miami Department of Community Development, Department of Leisure Services and the Cultural Advisory Council of Overtown. Pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance 88-51 enacted September 28, 1978, all retail peddlers' occupational licenses issued under the provisions of Chapter 30 of the City Code, as amended, will not be valid in the following designated area between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on April 19, 1980: N.W. 2nd Avenue between N.W. 7th Street and N.W. llth Street. Grassie f April 1, 1980 City Manager -- Resolution Closing Street - Overtown Comin' Alive Festival Acc l"et- Dena Spillman, Director ��FraFt Department of Community Development The Department of Community Development, the Department of Leisure Services, and the Cultural Advisory Council of Overtown (CACO) are sponsoring a street festival to be held on Saturday, April 19, 1980. It is requested that N.W. 2nd Avenue from N.W. 7th Street to N.W. llth Street be closed to traffic from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. All activities will be paid from the funds allocated to CACO, administered by Leisure Services, Cultural Division. The attached resolution authorizes said street closure. All necessary permits have been filed with the Police and Fire Departments. DS:mal ADIUMMI
