Uear Ur. Sorkin:
Thank you for your recent letter concerning information on desirability
on high rise apartments for low cost housing.
In general, the Department has a policy rjhich in most circumstances
discourages high rise apartment: for low cost family housing. However, for
elderly low cost housing, high rise construction,is 1luite acceptable.
As you indicated in your letter the Pruitt - Igoe coriplex was demolished
for a variety of complex, physiological and sociological reasons. hlore
specific details concerning this situation perhaps may be obtained by
contacting the St. Louis Housing Authority. 4100 Lindell, St. Louis,
Missouri 63108.
It is hoped that this information will be helpful to you.
Sincerely,
`Joft`rtriy'tullock, Jr.
