RESOLUTION NO. 8 0- 3 j 9 A RESOLUTION AMENDING SECTION 1 OF RESOLUTION 80-256, ADOPTED MARCH 31, 1980, WHICH CLOSED CERTAIN STREETS IN COCONUT GROVE TO THROUGH TRAFFIC ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25, 1980, AND SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26, 1980, BETWEEN 8:00 A.M. AND 8:00 P.M., IN CONNECTION WITH THE FOURTH ANNUAL BANYAN FESTIVAL, TO PROVIDE FOR SAID FESTIVAL TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 1 AND 2, 1980. WHEREAS, the City Commission passed Resolution 80-256 on March 31, 1980; and WHEREAS, the aforementioned resolution closed Fuller Street between Grand Avenue and Main Highway to through traffic on Saturday October 25, 1980, and Sunday, October 26, 1980, between 8:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M., in connection with the Fourth Annual Banyan Festival, sponsored by the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, the Annual Great Coconut Grove Bicycle Race was sub- sequently scheduled to be held on October 22 through 26, 1980; and WHEREAS, the location of the Great Coconut Grove Bicycle Race and the Banyan Festival are in common locations; and WHEREAS, it would not be in the best interest of the Coconut Grove community to hold both events on the same dates; and WHEREAS, the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce has requested a change in dates for the Fourth Annual Banyan Festival from October 25 and 26, 1980 to November 1 and 2, 1980; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE,T.Wff0 +OF N DO OF MIAMI: ITEM NO - � Section 1. At the March 31, 1980 City Commission meeting, resolution 80-256 was passed, which authorized Fuller Street to be closed to through traffic on Saturday and Sunday, October 25 and 26, 1980 in connection with the Fourth Annual Banyan Festival. This event is sponsored by the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce. Subsequent to the passage of this street closure, Mr. Joe Avalos, Race Director of the Great Coconut Grove Bicycle Race, informed this office (letter attached) that dates for his annual event were planned for October 22 - 26, 1980, which were in conflict with those for the Banyan Festival. The Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce is requesting that the date for the Banyan Festival be changed to November 1 and 2, 1980 so that the bicycle race can proceed as planned.
