Legislation Approved by
City Commission on May 8, 1980

On the City Commission's May 8, 1980 Agenda were two items
relating to African Square Park. Specifically these items were
an ordinance appropriating $78,450 in additional funds for
African Square Park and a resolution authorizing the City
Manager to execute an agreement with Youth Industries, Inc., for
the operation of the park.
These items were scheduled for consideration by the City Commission
at 7:00 p.m. on May 8, 1980, however, the City Commission approved
these items prior to that time with the understanding that if a
citizen showed up at 7:00 p.m. to object to these items, the
approval by the City Commission would be voided.
For the record, it should be noted that I was present at the City
Commission Chambers at 6:50 p.m. and remained until 7,15 p.m. Dur-
ing this time no one showed to voice their objections to the two
pieces of legislation regarding African Square Park.
It is suggested that this memorandum be given to the City Clerk for
inclusion in the official records of the May 8, 1980 City Commission
Meeting.
