June 26 City Commission Agenda Allapattah Community Action, Inc., an elderly meals program in the Allapattah community, requested and was awarded $10,000 for payment of rent at the Allapattah Community Center during the 5th year of Community Development. During the sixth year planning period they requested that their sixth year allocation be increased to $17,000 since the county's rent schedule was to be set higher than they previously estimated. This request was also granted. The program started operation in May, 1980; since it would operate only two months in the first year, they requested to make line item changes to other activities other than rent. This was permitted with the understanding that this did not imply any higher funding in the sixth year. Mr. Isidoro Rodriguez, the president of Allapattah Community Action, Inc., requested on May 30, 1980, (letter attached) an increase in their allocation to $60,000. This new budget would include, among other items, three staff positions. It is my understanding that Mr. Urra, chairperson for the Community Development Advisory Board, will make a personal appearance at the June 26 meeting, advocating this increased allocation. The Allapattah Community Action, Inc., has been recommended to be funded at $17,000 and is an agenda item in the group of social service agencies to be funded in the sixth year of Community Development. /cr Attachment 80-441 Ob 00-441 ALLtrArr:E; CCi:.UI,I.LY AMCN, tne.
