ADMINISTRATION BUILDING
Resolution Authorizing an Increase`
in Contract and Reduction in
Retainage
(For Commission Meeting of
June 26, 1980)
The Department of Public Works recommends
adoption of a resolution authorizing an
adHitional increase in the contract in the
amount of $65,238.00 between the City of
Miami and Shafer & Miller, Inc. for the
construction of the ADMINISTRATION BUILD-
ING, said funds to be provided entirely by
the Economic Development Administration
approved adjustment within the Federal and
Local Public Works Grant Funds provided for
the project and authorizing the City Manager
to reduce the 10% retainage on the project
to 2.5%
The Economic Development Administration has approved a'change order
in the amount of $65,238.00 to be funded entirely by Economic
Development Grant Funds. To validate the change order the City
Commission must authorize an increase in the contract in the amount
of the change order.
The contractor has essentially completed all of the work contained
in the original contract and is now doing extra work. A condition
of the contractor approving Change Order No. 6 mentioned above was
that we would request the Commission to reduce the retainage on
the project from 10}0' to 2.5%.
The Economic Development Administration has given their written
approval for the reduction in retainage provided the architect
and the City Commizzion authorize it. The architect has submitted
his written approval.
