June 26 City Commission Agenda
It is recommended that a resolution
transferring $93,700 of sixth year
Community Development Block Grant
funds from Dinner Key Island Park to
Little Havana Activities and Nutri-
tion Centers of Dade County, Inc.
for the purpose of providing housing
services in the City of Miami for
the period July 1, 1980, through
June 30, 1981, be approved by the
City Commission.
Due to the large influx of Haitians and Cuban refugees there is•a critical
shortage of housing in the City of Miami, and assistance is needed in helping
people find the limited housing resources that are available.
Based on City Commission instructions at a previous meeting, it is staff's
recommendation that the Little Havana Activities and Nutrition Center of Dade
County, Inc. be awarded $93,700 of sixth year Community Development funds,
previously allocated in our sixth year application to Dinner Key Island Park,
for the above mentioned assistance.
This agency has a track record in assisting people to find housing resources
and was instrumental in assisting the City of Miami to relocate those persons
temporarily displaced by Little Havana/Lummus Park S6ction 8 multi -family
rehabilitation program.
