for the "Latin Riverfront Emergency
Shelter"
Joseph R. Grassie

F"`E9'
As you are aware the City has been providing temporary emergency
food and shelter to indigent refugees at the Orange Bowl. In order
for the Orange Bowl to be ready for the Dolphin football exhibition
season, the premises must be vacated on or before July 28i 1980.
This presents a dilemma as approximately 800 indigent refugees will
again be without food and shelter. Therefore, it is requested that
the attached resolution and ordinance, not included in the Agenda,
be considered at the July 24, 1980 meeting in order for the City to
implement a program entitled "Latin Riverfront Emergency Shelter".
This program will be funded through the Federal Government and will
not require any funds from the City. It will provide emergency food,
shelter and other services to the refugees currently housed at the
Orange Bowl.
