The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has awarded the City a $50,000 grant to assist small art organizations in artistic programming. A $50,000 City contribution has been budgeted in the FY '79-80 cash match account to cover the matching share requirement of the NEA. 0. This is the fourth year the National Endowment for the Arts has provided a $50,000 grant to the City to expand existing community art programs in City neighborhoods. Financial support allows small art organizations to present low cost e-ients with the objective of obtaining community sponsorship in the future. Technical assistance is provided by City staff from the Cultural Division of the Depart- ment of Leisure Services in helping these art organizations improve management and production skills. Approximately thirty-six (36) art groups will receive financial assistance from the City, totaling $75,290. Please have this item placed on the July 24 Commission agenda. An authorizing resolution for this program has also been submitted for the July 24 Commission meeting.
