BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Commission hereby ratifies, approves and confirms the action of the City Manager in executing the attached Agreement between the City of Miami and the Latin American Chamber of Commerce of the United States, for prepar- ing, coordinating and supervising the First Hemispheric Congress of Latin American Chambers of Commerce held in Miami during September 11-13, 1980, with funds hereby allocated therefor from the City's Contingency Fund, in an amount not to exceed $25,000. Fosmoen " September 8, 1980 City Manager ' City of Miami/CAMACOL Agreement t Fr WA Julio Castano, Director Dept. f Trade & Commerce Development "It is recommended that the attached agreement be executed between the City of Miami and the Latin Chamber of Com- merce of the United States, for $25,000 to coordinate the First Hemispheric Congress of Latin American Chambers of Commerce, to be held in Miami, Florida, September 11-13, 1980, with funds alloca- ted in the City's Contingency Fund". The First Hemispheric Congress of Latin American Chambers of Commerce's main purpose is to establish a working network among the Chambers of Commerce and industry of Latin America and the Caribbean and Latin American Chambers of Commerce of the United States. In addition, it will help in developing an information system to assist private industry in needed areas, as well as examining the advantages of private enterprise's use of Chambers of Commerce as a venue for inter -American trade. Furthermore, the First Hemispheric Congress of Latin American Chambers of Commerce will promulgate the following City's ob- jectives: 1. Projection of Miami as a hemispheric financial center. 2. Miami as an entrepot of world trade. 3. Investment opportunities and facilities in Miami. 4. Miami as a transportation hub of U. S.--Latin American business and transportation.
