A RESOLUTION RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRM-
ING THE ACTION OF THE CITY MANAGER IN EXECUTING
THE ATTACHED AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI

IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $25,000.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Commission hereby ratifies, approves
and confirms the action of the City Manager in executing the
attached Agreement between the City of Miami and the Latin
American Chamber of Commerce of the United States, for prepar-
ing, coordinating and supervising the First Hemispheric
Congress of Latin American Chambers of Commerce held in Miami
during September 11-13, 1980, with funds hereby allocated
therefor from the City's Contingency Fund, in an amount not
to exceed $25,000.

The City of Miami and the Latin American Chamber of
Commerce of the United States, hereinafter rc�fcr.red to as
CAMACOL, entered into this Memorandum of Acj cement this`

In the event the total amount is .not expandod tor purposes
in connection with the CONFERENCE, the CITY will be
returned all unused portions. if the City hakes suci•i
action to terminate the Agreement, pur.au,lnt- to Section IV,
CAMACOL shall be paid an amount for the cost only of
those services which have been rendared to the date of
termination.
IV. TIME OF PERFORMANCE
The CONFERENCE is to be held on septci. bc. .!: 11.-1.3, 1980.
In the event that the CONFERENCE is cancellod or post-
poned, the CITY has the option to or
this Agreement.
V. AMENDMENTS
The CITY may, at its discretion;, zimc! ,d thi l::t

ordinances, and codes of the federal, stag and local
governments.
VII. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
CAMACOL agrees that there will be no d1scri.lnination aga:in:;t

sex, religious creed, ancestry, or ndti.,:)nal origin in its
performance of this Agreement; and it is e.:xpre:,,sly under-

this Agreement to the conclusion of the CONFERF;t;CL•',
as to the status and progress of the CONFERENCE.
2. CAMACOL agrees to submit to the CITY, through the
DTCD, a final report within 30 days of the conclusion
of the CONFERENCE detailing those � .)ciitures

IX. CONFLICT OF INTERESTS

XI. TERMINATION

"It is recommended that the attached
agreement be executed between the City
of Miami and the Latin Chamber of Com-
merce of the United States, for $25,000
to coordinate the First Hemispheric
Congress of Latin American Chambers of
Commerce, to be held in Miami, Florida,
September 11-13, 1980, with funds alloca-
ted in the City's Contingency Fund".
The First Hemispheric Congress of Latin American Chambers of
Commerce's main purpose is to establish a working network among
the Chambers of Commerce and industry of Latin America and the
Caribbean and Latin American Chambers of Commerce of the United
States. In addition, it will help in developing an information
system to assist private industry in needed areas, as well as
examining the advantages of private enterprise's use of Chambers
of Commerce as a venue for inter -American trade.
Furthermore, the First Hemispheric Congress of Latin American
Chambers of Commerce will promulgate the following City's ob-
jectives:
1. Projection of Miami as a hemispheric financial center.
2. Miami as an entrepot of world trade.
3. Investment opportunities and facilities in Miami.
4. Miami as a transportation hub of U. S.--Latin American
business and transportation.
The $25,000 are to come from the City's Contingency Fund account.
